The Jazz Junkies

Thank Goodness CJ Was Signed!

July 26th, 2008 by Ben

I know that I will be criticized by many for believing this, but I am truly glad that the Jazz matched the offer that C.J. Miles was offered, and that Miles will be staying with the Jazz.

Yes C.J. is not a considered a star, or a huge impact player.  And also yes, his stats are not that great considering that he only averages around 5 points a game, etc..  (Not to side track too much here but my opinion for him  having such low statistic averages is his huge lack of playing time which his playing time numbers will fully back up.)  He plays behind star Deron Williams and Ronny Brewer, so obviously he isn’t going to get much playing time.

But here is the deal.. C.J. Miles is a very talented individual.  He brings a certain ferocity to his game, (when he actually plays) and he can only improve as he gains experience in the league and with the Jazz franchise.   He  is in a crowded position as far as the Jazz Roster goes, but if/when he called to play, he plays well.

I also feel that he is a player that can help bring this team a championship.  Sure, once again, he is not a star, but he is a great basketball player.  He brings depth and talent to a bench that at times could be a little more deep in talent.  Also, Williams and Brewer, also occasionally have an off game, or, God forbid, get injured.. and if that were to happen I would feel confident in letting Miles take one of their spots in order to help lead the Jazz to a championship.

After all is said and done, I am glad the Jazz opened their checkbook and matched the offer given by OKC.
